Contemporary A Cappella
While at Chesapeake High School, Napoli served as director, arranger, and choreographer for the award-winning a cappella group, Evolve. Known across the Mid-Atlantic for their energetic stage presence and dynamic performances, Evolve advanced each year at ICHSA, placing as high as Semifinal Runners-up in 2022, and earning many awards in that span. They’ve performed across the East Coast and worked with some of a cappella’s biggest names, including Matt Sallee of Pentatonix, Christopher Diaz, & Michael Brisentine.

Choreographer: Robby NapoliFeaturing four songs woven together throughout the set, Evolve’s 2024 competition set explores leaving unhealthy situations and finding a sense of self not defined from others’ perspective. We learned so much about ourselves through this set, and loved sharing it with our audiences!

Choreographer: Michael BrisentineOur first “through-composed” set, with sung interludes connecting one song to the next, Evolve’s 2023 set uses dense harmonies, an array of extended techniques, and hemiola to achieve an almost “otherworldly” sound to pair with Brisentine’s beautiful choreography.

After a full year of virtual instruction, no one in the group had any a cappella experience. We learned the style and process of competition sets together, and had fun doing it!
